Received a copy of this hardcover book and I have to say I'm impressed. The photography is amazing from old whisky ads, to landscape, to shots of various distilleries. 960 pages cover to cover, containing information on whiskies from around the world as well as some tasting notes on all the whiskies featured. This is a book that you can sit relaxing with a whisky in hand and have an enjoyable read. Check it out online well worth the cost in my opinion.

It's a book I've been looking to pick up for a while, just out of interest, what are the top 10 whisky's to try before you die in the book?

The book lists all 1001 whiskies in alphabetical order, so there is no top 10. It's not a ranking, it's just a comprehensive list of some of the best and/or most interesting whiskies in the world.

I agree, I was given this book and it really is remarkable the quality. I honestly thought it would be medicore at best, but it is a very good read.

Luckily for me, this was the first Whisky book I purchased, and I have to agree it is a fantastic book. The content is great and the images are superb. It's one of those books you can keep on your bedside table and read and page through for the rest of your life!

I can also recommend Michael Jackson's 'Whiskey: The Definitive World Guide" amazon.com/Whiskey-Definitive-World-Michael… and Dominic Roskrow's latest edition of "Whisky Opus" www.amazon.com/Whisky-Opus-Dk/dp/1405394749.

Next on the list for me is Dave Broom's "The World Atlas of Whisky" amazon.com/World-Atlas-Whisky-Expressions-D….

Any feedback on this title?

@MaltyMike I own Dave Broom's "The World Atlas of Whisky" this one explains more about the distilleries and the different regions as well as providing some tasting notes for each of the distillery main whiskies. A well laid out book.

@MaltyMike...I would echo Lars' feedback about the Whisky Atlas. It also has a nice set of flow charts that lay out the differences in the whisky making process between different styles of whisk(e)y. A chart for each of Irish, Scotch, and Bourbon, iirc, are in the book. A worthwhile acquisition, imho.
