he loves whisky but doesn't have much experience except with blends (but I want to buy him a single malt of course), while my budget is not too high, not over 150-200 euro (I could make an exception anyway)...

Well, as we know single malts aren't necessarily better than blends. With all that in mind here are a few things that fall in budget:

• A premium blend: Johnny Walk Blue Label (masterofmalt.com/whiskies/…)
• An secret malt: Master of Malt 40 Year Old Speyside (masterofmalt.com/whiskies/…)
• Something a bit more adventurous: Talisker 25 year old (masterofmalt.com/whiskies/…)

Theres a 50 year old strathisla 1957/2007 available form The Whisky Exchange only thing is that it costs £200 so might be a bit pricey mate. It sounds like a good whisky though (review on whiskyfun.com ) got 92 pts.

@kian : thanks for the hint! there's also a 1963 version on master of malt that is much cheaper...I just wonder how they can sell an almost 50 years old bottle at that price... @PeatAndMeat: the last two ones are on my notebook!
