Aberfeldy is somewhat unknown territory to me. I have only tried a few so far. I came across this bottle at a festival in Brussels. Mark Watt was talking excitedly about it, so I scored a sample. It is a very pale fellow (the whisky, I mean)!
The nose is sweet and candy-like on Jelly Beans and young apples, skin included. Loads of vanilla and a little yeasty. Rather middle of the road if you ask me.
It has a rather dry arrival and reminds me of the crust of a doubly baked bread. Then the white fruit returns, upholstered with some fresh citrusy notes. Again quite sweet. Crystal sugar. A spicy touch. Think white pepper. Becomes more creamy from the second sip. Not exactly exiting.
In the medium long finish I get some white chocolade and soft notes of toffee.
A very ordinary Aberfeldy that did not blow me away.
