This is a WOW bottling bottled by adelphi this is 6 year old Glenrothes matured in sherry at a mid bending strength. In all honesty it isnt the greatest thing in the world. But the flavour is HUGE ralfy is right with his more alcohol more flavour dogma.
Nose: caramelised, bacon, toffee and chocolate éclairs, with some raisin, dates, vanilla and coffee. With water much the same, some brown sugar more than caramel, but not a huge change.
Pallet: surprisingly smooth arrival, brioche, fudge, ginger bread and raisins, then a meaty edge and the heat comes through. With water more apple and a bit more meaty.
Finish: Once the nip dies down there is some earthy coffee, cherry liqueur, nutmeg and cinnamon. With water less nip and some tannins.
Mark neat – 8.1, with water 8.4
Ultimately it is a bit extreme, but definitely worth a try, and it definitely brings a smile to the face
