First things first i can't guarantee that this is the correct cask number. Connosr has two in its bottle listings but im not exactly sure which one this was from.
Nose: tarry rope, black tea and diesel oil, lots of smoke. With water adds a little bit of phenols and a bit more smoke
Pallet: nutty arrival then really intensely salty, lemon, some butterscotch and black pepper. With water blacker. More ashes and soot.
Finish: briny, tar and liquorice with some fragrant (more pleasant) smoke, some really fresh sea air and oysters. With water fresher and lighter. The finish saves the whisky.
Mark neat – 7.9, with water 8.4
I was expecting a lot from this dram and i didn't get it. Water helped for sure but for me it was too 'dark' for lack of a better word. It's decend stuff but at $365AUD one would want more than that.
