I'm a big fan of the Islay Single Malts mostly because of their peatiness (if that is a word). Ardbeg Corryvreckan is the epitome of what Islay has to offer Single Malt enthusiasts. It's nose embraces you, heck it drags you in.. If you love the smell of a wood buring fireplace, then you'll love this dram.. It's full of flavor, very rich and smooth.. People who are used to the Glens, will probably be shocked..

Corryvreckan is too young, sharp, and woody for my taste. I don't like the Laphroaig Triple Wood much either, for the same reason. This said, I love the PC7 and the Longrow Gaja Wood (only seven years old). Laphroaig Cask Strength 003 was one of my favorite bottles of 2013. Bitter does not win the day for me. Corryvreckan is too bitter and biting with smoke that dries out rather than deepening into something rich, multifaceted, and memorable, IMHO.
