Sweet and strong.
Nose: The nose is powerful. Caramel fudge makes its first appearance and the alcohol adds a fiery breath to the scent
Palate: Once the initial warmth fades, caramel and toffee jump straight to the forefront. With summer flowers lurking in the background. The sweetness should be too much but its done in such a way where it never overpowers. The light nature of this whisky makes it exceptionally easy to drink and enjoy.
Finish: The alcohol seems to smother your tongue for a second before subduing quickly and leaving only warmth. The sweetness stays on your tongue and is partnered by a log burnt the evening before.
The fiery finish would make this one perfect for camping on a cool Autumnal evening while sitting around a campfire and telling stories of the past. I really love this bourbon and it's not because it's perfect. Its imperfection is what makes it such a great dram.
Update - Open for two months, palate has definitely sweetened further. Same verdict - not a daily dram but something to be saved for camping under the stars with friends.
