16yo Ben Nevis aged in a refill Sherry butt. “Tantalisingly sweet & savoury” @55.1% ABV and 1/562 bottles.
To smell: Turkish Delight, polished timber floors, chocolate-malt for sure. Finding the sweet spot with some water, this just goes to a different level; milk chocolate, well toasted bread, butterscotch, hay, brown sugar, jaffas.
To taste: Pleasantly light and silky mouthfeel; flavours are really quite difficult to pin down but true to its name consecutive sips trend from beautifully sweet and chocolate-like to slightly savory. This stuff had me puzzled at first, until I realised I was trying too hard to put a name to individual scents and tastes. Easily one of the most complex spirits i’ve ever tasted, up there with the 18yo SMWS Yoichi i’ve reviewed earlier.
