I like you themes.
I'd go with a Kavalan for cultural reasons (Chinese Lunar Years), specifically the core Single Malt or Solist Sherry Cask.

I drank the following drams in the following order: Amrut Portonova 2011, Longrow 18, Kilchoman Machir Bay. The KMB reminds me of a Smoking Islay I had a year ago. It was very nice but only 46%. I think it was an Ardbeg. Not too young though. At least a 10 without any filtering at all. I wish I'd snatched up another bottle of that broth, even though it was a bit too weak at least for a Blackadder. ... That moon eclipse was amazing. A few Sunday nights ago. Brilliant. And then the clouds moved in and covered the end of it. that's when I turned to the Machir Bay. If you get the chance, friend me, Nock. I'm getting ready to open a Uigeadail bottling that you will be interested in, one of your favorites I think.

Here is what I listened to during the lunar equinox: www.youtube.com/watch and then www.youtube.com/watch and then www.youtube.com/watch and finally www.youtube.com/watch

What whisky pairs well while watching a Blood Moon? In Virginia the “Super Blood Moon” will occur around 10:47. Are you watching it? If so what would you sip?
Bowmore Darkest?
Highland Park Dark Origin?
Bruichladdich Black Art?
Redbreast?
Or maybe a cocktail like Blood and Sand?
Or maybe a port finished whisky like Amrut Portonova?
