Best blended whisky I've ever tasted . . . by far! Had a glass last night. If anyone knows where I can buy a bottle of this stuff, it would be great to hear from you.
Nose: Fresh made marshmallows, toffee, cashew, green sweet grapes, butter brickle, with just a hint of well worn leather and wind through a stand of madrona trees in late summer.
Palate: Creamy toffee, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, a breath of smoke near the end with more oak. Very nice full mouth feel with a little chewiness.
Finish: Yes, the oak, and more: toffee, yes, and a touch of orange marmalade plus something that was hard to pin down. Lychee? Very crisp and yet also luxurious finish--a rare combination.
I can only guess how good the 25 YO must have been back in the day. If you remember the 25 was it delicious? I'm curious about that old blend that is no more, except perhaps in a few collections round the world.
Sorry, the title did not come through. I'm reviewing the Campbeltown Loch 21 y.o.
