This 12 Year Old Cardhu was bottled ages ago for the French company Simon Frères in Paris. It is a 750ml bottle, meaning it is most likely a distillate from before I was born, which is always nice (but by no means a guarantee for quality, let me add). Bottled at 43% as opposed to nowadays' releases at 40%.
Honeysweet nose on pineapple cubes, sours and cola bottles - all from the candy store, mind you. Some freshly sawn grass and a bitter orange, but... unfortunately also a touch of OBE. Well, I guess that was to be expected. Luckily the sneakers do not linger.
The body is more than okay, oily and softly spiced. Think ginger, liquorice, pepper and a pinch of cinnamon. On the palate it is candy-like sweet again, but also somewhat herbal. Some green garden herbs. I actually quite like it.
The finish is sweet (surprise!) and spicy, but very short.
Good in its genre, I suppose. Better than today's offerings, at any rate.
