Clynelish 12 Year Old 1995 Shiny Cell Daily Dram

Ah, look, a somewhat older bottling of The Nectar, from the series where they made anagrams of or puns on the name of the distillery. This is their Shiny Cell, a Clynelish from 1995, bottled in 2008. I was recently able to get a sample of this at a festival.

Blissful nose on cake, candle wax, lemon pie and something that reminds me of grandpa's work box with its rusted tools in an equally rusted iron toolbox. Mandarin appears, as well as some Granny Smith apples and a gentle sea breeze. Yes, the DNA of the house is present and I am very happy about that.

Nice and waxy on the tongue with a sweetness like apple juice, honey and jelly beans, supplemented with a bitterness of walnuts and grapefruit – and a salty edge! Apricots and raisins are also appearing now. Very tasty. And quite spicy. Think ginger, peper and licorice.

The finish is surprisingly long and soft sweet and sour before dying a bitter death.

Delicious Clynelish which was somewhat underestimated at the time in my opinion.
