- Brand: Crocked Fox
- ABV: 40%
Crooked Fox does not have a distillery, but selects cask from all over the US and brings those to their HQ in Texas. Crooked Fox is ‘women owned’, by the way. This bourbon is then blended there and since only bourbon is used, this one is of another quality than most American blends. Yet I still find it a dram that leaves a lot to be desired.
It takes a while before the nose – that is very uninteresting – reveals anything. Just vanilla and caramel and a slightly candy-like touch of gummi bears. A bit of corn on the barbecue, but little else. I’m underwhelmed.
Honeysweet on vanilla, gummi bears and a hint of artificial sweetener. A soft prickle of some black pepper, but other than that this is very simple.
The finish is artificially sweet and mercifully short.
The best part of this release is the packaging. Nice bottle and good name, but the whiskey is a let-down. Simple dram to be drowned in a cocktail.
