Edradour 2003 Ruby Port Matured really gave me a touch of strawberries, like many had promised based on their reviews. I was a bit skeptical about it but yes, I really did spot 'em.
This Edradour's been finished in Ruby Port casks and that's why it really does give you a big blast of red fruit flavors. bottled 8 and a half years
For me Edradour 2003 Ruby Port was one those drams that you have to leave alone for quite a bit. At first it felt a bit too sharp and tangy for my taste but after 30 minutes in the nosing glass, everything felt fine.
Nice work by one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland!
Nose: Fermented red fruits jelly, raspberry being the main berry that comes to mind.
Palate: Thick with very small amount of dryness. Spices and red berries take over your senses and yes, a wee bit of dried strawberries in the mix!
Finish: Exotic and fruity, sweet wine and hints of spices. Bit dry.
Balance: For the ones who are looking for thick and fruity whisky experience. Exotic dram.

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest to Finland! I have a bottle of the Edradour '99 unchillfiltered. It's not as good as I had hoped, but it is unique, to be sure. A bit "flat" in my estimation. My friends who visit the house and are given a dram absolutely love it, but they are not experienced connosrs. It has a strong maple flavor to it, almost like pancake syrup. Not much depth;however, it is improving with age. I need to just leave it alone in my cabinet for another few months and then go back to it. Nice review, Rantavahti! I always find your tasting notes to be helpful and interesting.
