Let’s stick with the Wood Finishes from GlenDronach a little longer. Again one that saw the light of day in August 2010, this is a 15 Year Old that was finished on a Moscatel sherry cask. Only a few weeks ago, I had a Tullibardine on Moscatel which I found very pleasing.
The nose is surprisingly sourish. Freshly squeezed lemon, tangerines, apple sauce and rhubarb jam. This reminds me of the rhubarb stems I used to pluck out of my father-in-law’s garden. There is also some rosewater. Wonderful combination.
On the palate it’s creamy and very fruity: litchis on syrup, tangerines and rhubarb jam again. Very sweet, very fruity, simply very good. I like this.
The finish is sweet, long and leaves your mouth dry.
Contrary to my expectations, I like this one even better than the Sauternes. A real summer dram!
