Glendullan? Here is another one of those distilleries that I do not come across often. It is only my 7th and a bit of an oldie in the sense that it was bottled a few years ago. The same was gathering dust in the back of my sample cabinet, to be honest. It’s a 15 years old from 1999 from The House of Macduff.
I quite like this nose. Nicely warm on green apples, yellow potpourri, baked pears and warm vanilla pudding.
Despite the high strength, it goes down well without water. Lots of vanilla, lime sorbet, apricot marmalade and a big dose of white pepper. Pretty straightforward, but absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Vanilla reigns in the medium long finish.
Typical summer dram. Apparently this can still be found for around 130 EUR. Personally, I would not want to pay this amount. Having said that, this Glendullan is flawless.
