This coppery Glengoyne was bottled by Malts of Scotland after 13 years of maturation (yield of the cask 289 bottles). This is not the first and I have a gut feeling there is plenty more great Glengoyne asleep in the warehouse in Paderborn.
The nose is very sherried again, just like cask 1132 that was bottled in 2010. Once past the alcohol, I get crème brulée, roasted nuts, gingerbread with almond paste, tobacco and a hint of balsamico. Walnut skins, some mint and thyme. Mandarin. Nice development.
On the palate, this oily Glengoyne leaves no doubt: this is a veritable sherrymonster! Very appetizing with the same associations as on the nose: orange, walnuts, ginger, caramel. The oak serves as bitter lining.
The finishhhhhhhhhhhh. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. You know what I mean.
Active cask, probably first fill. Wonderful whisky.
