This is already the 6th sister cask that I try from this series, all from the stables of Signatory. This cask was filled on the 27th of March 2007 (just like cask #900130 for Getränkenwelt Weiser & Flickenshild and cask #900131 for The Whisky Exchange) and bottled in august 2018 for the German shop Brühler Whiskyhaus. The ABV at first glance seems scorching.
On the nose, it is clearly family of what I’ve tried before, but this one has something extra… I get some toasted oak next to the typical dark and sweet fruit which gives it – in my opinion at least – extra depth. Very interesting nose on maraschino cherries, cola candy, chocolate, raisins, plums and – to lesser extent – orange marmalade. It is sweeter and somewhat frivolous. Lovely.
Sturdy, creamy, piquant arrival, completely as expected. Cherry and plum liqueur, walnuts, chili peppers, black grapes and cola syrup (yup!). But it does not burn. It is very round and rich and an absolute taste bomb.
Wonderfully long, warm finish that becomes a tad dry towards the death.
Of the six sister casks tried, this one is the best. But it really is all about nuances.
