This is yet another sample I received from the Drinks by the Dram program from Master of Malt. The 1994 Vintage OB from Glenrothes is a bit citrusy, and therefore I am not a big fan. So frankly, I don't have high-hopes for this dram (not that a Signatory bottling also distilled in 1994 will be exactly like the Vintage 1994 bottling).
This Signatory bottling is 46% ABV.
Nose: Very lemony, with nectarines and a citrus sharpness to it. Yup. This is what I figured. :( A little spirity with some malty overtones. Some nose tingle.
Palate: Very sharp. Some sweetness in the front. A bit of spice around the sides of the mouth. Some oaky spice and vanilla notes.
Finish: Very nice finish! Sweet nectarines and some floral notes. Hints of vanilla and honey.
This is good. It isn't usually what I look for, but I am enjoying it. It has a lot of sharp citrus notes, which I don't normally care for, but it is nice. Maybe I ought to pick up one of the official bottlings of the Glenrothes 1994 Vintage. But for $70, I probably won't.
