This sample was one of three from the House of Malt Secret Bottling Series. House of Malt based in Carlisle currently sell 3 expressions as part of their Secret Bottling Series:
"Our Secret Bottlings Series – is a range of very high quality single malts from Scotland’s best distilleries. The fact we don’t state the distillery on the label means we can offer this stunning whisky at just a fraction of the price it would usually be."
I was lucky enough to take part in a Twitter Tasting involving all three bottlings.
Colour:
Bright gold.
Nose:
Sweet, malt, sherry and fruit. After awhile a hint of almonds came out - the mix of almonds and fruit come together as Bakewell tart.
Palate:
Creamy, honey, vanilla and fruit. A touch of oak and a slight nuttiness.
Finish:
Creamy, malt, nuts and fruit. Possibly a touch of smoke.
Overall:
Much more depth compared to the Highland 10. The Bakewell tart on the nose took a little while to show itself but when it did it made for a really interesting experience for what initially seemed like a fairly straightforward dram.
never heard of this but will look it up
