This is a 5 year old expression from the new kids on the Islay block, Kilchoman. This distillery has great character and this bourbon matured whisky shows it off nicely
Nose: initially it’s lots of brine, seaweed and tar given time however, it will reveal, floral tones, heather honey and lemon cream.
Pallet: quite dusty it’s not a very clean texture. More lemon cream with butterscotch, some salt and nice tingly spices
Finish: great length, salty earth, peat, cherry liqueur and spices. Once again the length is beautiful.
Mark – 8.7
As is the trend with young Islay whisky this is not cheap. It's ~165AUD which for a 5 year old whisky is alot. BUT remember this is a small craft distillery who sells through quality small batch releases, not reputation or provenance, and for that i commend Kilchoman
