This new expression from Laphroaig will initially only be available as a travel retail exclusive. The name is an homage to this legendary distillery's past - it was founded in 1815.
This Islay single malt is double matured, first in over-charred ex-bourbon barrels, then in virgin european oak hogsheads. Sounds like it’s going to be a richly flavoured whisky.
The extra charring and new oak should really pack a punch. And, let’s face it Laphroaig don’t exactly shy away from bold flavours as it is!! Also nice to see that they've bottled it at 48% ABV.
We’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve managed to get hold of some.
