Ledaig 1996 Connoisseurs Choice by independent bottlers Gordon and MacPhail. Bottled in 2013. Young age really shows and not in a flattering way. Not a bad whisky at all but more on the mediocre side.
I remember Ralfy saying that Tobermory whiskies usually need much aging to get better. I do like the 10 year old Tobermory, which I guess, is on borderland of young or old?
This dram could have used more power on the salty breeze notes. In movie talk, it could have been a Storm Chasers whisky but it wasn't. It's more like a Wind. Mellow drama.
Nose: Peat and citrus dominate lightly, hints of malt. Bit earthly, needs more character.
Taste: Lightly fruity with citrus and green fruits. Malt and peat with some salty breezing note.
Finish: Dry and bit malty with light sea breeze feel.
Balance: Too light for my taste but a decent dram. Wanted more of that salty storm that stayed only as a breeze.

Would have liked to try this one if I could: www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-23287.aspx. Alas, too expensive to ship to US
