Everything about this release reminds me of cask 04014-1 that was launched at the same time but with a differently coloured label. Only the ABV is slightly highe rand this release is exclusive to TastToe (a Belgian whisky shop). The cask number makes me think this was a re-racking of this Ledaig to – judging by the number of bottles – a quarter cask. But who got the best of the two. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, eh?

Err… let me check if I am holding the right glass, for this is the same. It’s off to a very good start! Althought this is slightly sweeter, I must say. The brackish, earthy Ledaig notes are present immedately, but the sherry cask clearly had a bit more influence here. Fruit porridge, to be precise. A hint of banana (giving a creamy effect) and a lost strawberry. Hint of chewing tobacco.

Wonderfully creamy on the palate, immediately a bit piquant and salty and very similar to its brother. This is an identical twin with just as much character. Very smoky and brackish at times, but again with that lovely sweet note that goes just one step further that the other cask. Chocolate, believe me.

Only in the finish do you really discover the difference. This one is longer and more dry.

Wow, both are great. And to think this is such a young malt. Yes, well, age doesn’t say everything, eh? Quite the experience.
