Loch Lomond Green Label / Peated

Secretly, I am hoping to discover a nice Loch Lomond, but so far to no avail. Perhaps I’ll get lucky with this Peated expression?

The nose is surprisingly sharp, but very fruity at the same time. Think apples and pineapple, but in a smoky jacket. Reminds me a bit of Ledaig, but sweeter. And after a few moments, I do get some notes that lean towards vase water, but luckily it does not go there all the way. Interesting nose.

Well, that body is poor. But the taste is surprisingly good. Smoky and sweet on loads of citrus, vanilla and European fruit. De smokiness becomes quite big, but the sweetness dominates. This is dangerously quaffable, in fact.

The finish is medium long in which the smoke and sweetness battle it out. Sweetness bows.

I heard that this one is unbalanced, but I do not believe this to be the case. The smoke and sweetness go hand-in-glove, while the oak remains subdued. Pleasant surprise. But it could be that this is linked to my preference for young Ledaig or Caol Ila. This one is in the same league.
