Little is known about Mac Cord. This blend was bottled 40 to 50 years ago in Glasgow. While I was still in diapers, this was imported in Belgium by Destillerie Konings in Zonhoven. The bottles were 68cl and contained 40% ABV. So you could say this is liquid history. Today, these are no longer available. My sample came from a bottle that said 23/03/1972.
Well, the nose is rife with OBE. Linoleum and sneakers precede some vanilla and a truckload of caramel. A hint of almonds is the only aroma that makes this nose close to interesting.
The mouthfeel is ridiculous. Very weak and watery. But the taste is not that bad. A small pepper on liquorice, oranges and caramel. But there is also a somewhat strange metallic taste and chemical sweetness to it.
The finish is spicy and sweet, but not very long.
This reminds me more of liqueur than whisky, to be honest. A typical random blend from the 1960s and 1970s. Thanks, Jan.
