The Images series from Malts of Scotland never reveals the name of the distillery on the label. This Eilean a Chuirn Lighthouse refers to the lighthouse on the small isle of the same name on the east coast of Islay, about a kilometer southeast of Ardmore House. The closes distillery is Ardbeg. Could it be Ardbeg?
Surprisingly sweet nose, with wonderful peat and a sea breeze. The sweetness translates into baked pears, strawberries and gooseberries. Citrus is not lacking. Hay. Very nice!
On the palate I get ashes, liquorice, bonfire, sprinkled with peppers and some olive oil. Quite salty as well. The fruit is limited to pears and some citrus. Not exactly complex, but heartwarming.
In the medium long and nicely smoky finish, the sweetness re-emerges.
Very similar to the previous Images, Kildalton Cross, which was in fact an Ardbeg, so I think it is safe to assume this is one as well. Might even be a young sister cask.
