I really didn't think I'd review a "cheap blend" such as Mansion House Scotch Whisky but this 3 year old blended dram turned out to be a nice surprise for it's kind.
Mansion House 3 yrs is a blend of grain and (according to Mansion House, high amount of) malt. So far it's my favorite of the blended whiskies (if I exclude the Japanese).
Nose: Very robust, oaky and a bit malty.
Taste: Toffee takes over very intensely, bit oaky and sweet.
Finish: Not so tasty anymore, a bit watery like these blended ones tend to be.
Balance: Nice one when it comes to taste. Straight forward and one sided whisky but for blend, this ones surprisingly good.
Last weekend I achieved a "poor man's" copy of Highland Park 12 yrs by pouring 3/4 of Mansion House and 1/4 of Big Peat Cask Strength. Truly fantastic!
