Distribution of ratings for this:
- Brand: Miltonduff
- Type: Scotch
- Region: Speyside
- ABV: 43%
NOSE: brown sugar, strawberry jam, mint, orange marmalade, herbal, tannic over-brewed black tea, chocolate-covered prunes.
TASTE: syrup consistency, but then with time it becomes looser. It explodes in your mouth with big spices, dried fruit and cranberries towards the finish with a lot of tannins that accompany the entire experience.
FINISH: mineral, medium, cranberries again.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I'd never had a 40-year old whisky before. But now I know for a fact that old age doesn't equal substance. This is true for people as well. It's a nice sherried malt with lots and lots of sherry. But you can do much better by simply sticking to Aberlour, Glendronach and Glenfarclas standard releases. And, as a bonus, you'll save a lot of money by doing so as well.
