This Myth is the new release by Penderyn, the only distillery in Wales. It was released together with the Celt, which we will try right after this one. The Myth is bottled at a rather unconventional strength of 41% ABV and matured solely on bourbon casks. It is quite pale. The nose is something different. It does not remind me of whisky at all, but rather at an eau-de-vie of apples with some fruit juicy mixed through it. I am not sure I like this. A bit of vanilla and coconut, but also some pencil shavings. It is rather thin on the palate. Not a lot of body. And still a bit creamy. I get some more citrus now. Think grapefruit, but in a combo with vanilla ice-cream and white chocolate. Something sweet as in a dessert wine. Some candied apples. Still a bit like a liqueur, though. Somewhat candy-like. The finish is surprisingly long on candied fruit and oak. Mild spices at the death. A Welsh entry level malt, no more, no less. Around 40 EUR, which seems okay. Having said that, I believe this is younger than the Aur Cymru, which I found much more to my liking.
