I have had my share of Wilson & Morgan bottlings, with their emphasis on Islay, but this is the first Port Ellen from their stables that I try. Aiming high with a 30 Year Old that was brought to the market last year.

The nose is rather soft with less emphasis on the maritime Islay elements, but more on the creamy and sweet aromas. Farmer butter, vanilla and honey. Apples, unskinned. But wait! After a few moment, the true face is shown. Wet rocks, peat and graphite. Some garden herbs and mint. Tea leafs! Citrus towards the end. Start smiling, folks. I have been doing it for the last ten minutes.

Nice attack in which the peat comes first, then the herbs and fruit. Briny! Contrary to the sweet nose, it goes all salty on the palate. Big oak! Citrus all the way.

The finish is long and warm on more citrus and salt.

Not a very complex PE, too much stress on citrus and salt for that, but who gives a damn when the dram is this good?
