Rosebank 17 Hart Brothers 1990/2008
My first Rosebank!
Nose: Sweet herbal notes, starfruit, unripe apple/pear, apple danish, slightly floral. Light toffee emerges with time. A little minerally.
Taste: Tart / bitter citrus arrival, a little hot (prickly) in places, mellows to a slightly oaked, grainy affair but rounded and pleasantly "punchy" - has great staying power and remains strong throughout. More sweet than dry.
Finish: Savoury, surprising length - a continuation of the palate. Slightly drying now. Pleasant - leaves one wanting more!
Balance: Strikes a good balance between sweet and savoury - there are elements of both, but a little more on the savoury side. Not overly complex but pleasing overall with an engaging palate, the 46% ABV here you would say is a requirement. A bit prickly as noted, but after a few sips you don't really notice - yes it's flawed but not unforgivable in this case.
Score: N20 T21 F22 B20 = 83
Probably not a great example of Rosebank but a perfectly drinkable one for sure.
