Very soon the Queen of the Lowlands will reopen because Ian Macleod Distillers is almost finished with the renovation of the Rosebank distillery. In the meantime, I'm happy to taste another cask strength release from Cadenhead's, distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2008.
Fresh and pungent nose on white fruit and lemon juice, honey and a little beeswax. Very clean and accessible. Quite a bit of white pepper and licorice.
Nice and waxy and again stimulating on white pepper. Quinine! Lime peels and lemongrass. Late beeswax and vanilla, white fruit and wood spices. This is Rosebank's better work.
Medium finish on white fruit, vanilla and white pepper.
Rather straightforward, but no less delicious. This is a textbook example of bourbon-aged Rosebank.
