This Rosebank was distilled in 1989 and bottled by Cadenhead’s in June 2009 at an ABV of 52.1%. It was matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon hogsheads.
The nose is very fruity with grapefruits and apples. I also got vanilla and some very distinct grassy notes. All in all this is a rather pleasurable nose, fruity and floral.
The palate is medium-bodied and quite smooth. There is some spiciness that is due to the ABV but it is not overwhelming. With water I get some lemon notes but not more. After the very nice nose this is a bit of a disappointment.
The finish is medium long and dry with more vanilla and some caramel.
I liked this Rosebank but I was far from impressed by it. Let us simply say that I have tasted better ones. While the nose was delightful the palate was rather bland and underwhelming. Given the hefty price tag (about 200 EUR) I would have expected more.
