Nose: Oh yes, this has the grace and elegance of an old wonder. Strong and clear sherry influence. Dry and rich cocoa, with a layer of espresso below. Rich and opulent leather furniture. Essence of smoke puffs and a cedar drawer of aged maduro cigars. Honey with flowers and heather. Very gentle red fruit (berries) hiding in the nooks. Top class.
Palate: Yes, the proof plays out here, a bit less impressive, even as the sherry is rich, with wax and smoke. This is a dessert malt. Excellent espresso, Lindt chocolate, and gentle smokiness. Burned sugar, toffee, and supple old leather and varnish. Ron Burgundy's mohagany-leather filled study. Thin honey. Lacking a bit of strength, and a little weak, and the fruit is way, way, way past the nose-bleed section in the back.
Finish: Silky, even as the flavors are rich, sweet, dark, and delicious. An excellent blend. If this were closer to cask strength, it might have been exceptional, but, even as is, it's dangerously drinkable and memorable.
