Singleton - 10 Years Old (Auchroisk, Speyside)
This expression seems to have an interesting History and as I understand it (I could be wrong) is no longer available, there are now 'singletons' produced at other distilleries (Dufftown, Glendullan and Glen Ord).
This dram was seen as a designer whiskey, some disliked the name 'The singleton' for some it felt like a proclamation this it was the best. The story behing the name is that 'Singleton is easier to pronouce than 'Auchroisk'.
Like the earlier reviewer that found this 'Whiskey' at a ferry port, I had a taster at an airport in the UK there seemed to a strond drive in the duty free market.
Singleton was a light to medium whiskey.
Medium amber color The nose had Peat, sherry, heather, fruit, light smooth body. This expression was known for its sweetness, with some fruit and some.
I like the finish but I know it was a little short for some.
The singleton was smooth and a great into to Spey side, its a shame its gone. I have yet to taste the Auchroisk F&F or Diageo's Singleton of Glendullan
