On my recent visit to Springbank I was also able to taste Kilkerran 5 year old. This is Spingbank's sister operation in old Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown.
The overall taste is older than you would imaging from a 5 year old, but it holds a lot of promise for the future. The nose of itself is bit alcoholic, but it warms up nicely. The taste is mixture of apricots, leather and some perfume sweetness. The whisky is oak matured.
