This whisky has a strong body. It has a real strong pepper taste that takes you by the throat. To much for me. I did enjoy this whisky.

Terrible review. Tells us nothing about the whisky. And truly you must be a cocktail drinker.

@CharlieWhisky, to be fair, your own review (connosr.com/reviews/talisker/…) actually tells us less about Talisker 10 than this one does. The current review provides at least two tasting notes ("strong" body, pepper on the palate—well, throat to be precise), whereas yours has absolutely none, unless you count "drinkable" as a tasting note. It's clear you like this whisky—as do I—and, like you, I also question the unbelievably low mark given to it by @SvenFonteyn, but perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to cast the first stone ; )

@dkb, I agree. We cannot all be poets, can we? I know Sven personally and he knows his way around whisky and can tell me what he likes and what not. He's not a native speaker (just like me) so give him some slack. Having said that, I don't agree with the score which is too extreme. It tells us more about how Sven dislikes this (2/10), but less about the whisky itself, which is faultless. Now then... Can we all be friends again? Let's raise our glasses of T10(Sven, you'll have to pour something else, then) :)

Ok you guys are right. Sven I do apologise I came across a bit harsh. And yes my review of T10 does say very little in terms of tasting notes.

But a 2.0?? Thought it was a bit extreme.. Or maybe I suppose I am too attached to my old mate and may have taken it personally!

@CharlieWhisky: nice save! And I believe indeed you took it personally. But that's ok, we all have our babies, even in whisky.

I enjoy peace and harmony, however, I believe that @CharlieWhisky really had it right in his first comment. The point of doing tasting reviews is too spread the knowledge of whiskies. Give people insight into what they may or may not want to try. NOT to bash or spread your own personal whisky agenda. I feel the same way about somebody who would give something a "10.0" and say "BEST WHISKY EVER"

It is not fulfilling its purpose. CharlieWhisky, stand strong in the midst of controversy. I am behind you.

I'm not sure how they come to a final rating on a scotch, but there should be some way to throw out extreme high and low outliers. As one of the commenters noted this score tells us how much the reviewer disliked this whisky rather than the quality of the whisky. You'd like to think people wouldn't rate a whisky 20...but emotions can get in the way when we extremely dislike something....so that's where I think you need some kind of system to keep this distortions out. Gold handicaps work that way...terrible scores are thrown out so you can't sandbag your opponent with a few blow up scores.

Do you realize that your scores are drawing the average score of very good whiskies down? Talisker in no way is a 25. Yes you may not like it but there has to be a redeeming feature of it. I find your scores are erratic. On a big belter like this it may not matter but on a much less reviewed one like Glen Garioch 12yo it is genuinely affecting the score and making it hard for the community to get a somewhat more accurate picture of the whisky.
