Teaninich is pronounced Tee-ja-nee-nick’, who would have thought? The Nectar of the Daily Drams, a famous Belgian bottler, released this 12 Year Old a few years ago.
The nose is very light on Frosties, the sugared breakfast cereals. Then some hay, lemon grass, vanilla, tiger balm and hazelnuts. Soft on the spices. Not overwhelming, but interesting nonetheless.
It is mildly creamy and honeysweet on the palate. Loads of citrus, but also some white and yellow fruit. Think apples, peach and even some banana. From the spice cabinet, I remember vanilla and ginger. Typical traits for a bourbon cask. Pleasant enough, without being great.
The finish is rather shot, but shows a little oak now.
Very quaffable Teaninich. A true card players whisky. Around 35 EUR.
