For their sixth anniversary (because it was founded in 2015), Teeling launched a so-called Double Cask in 2021. Only 600 bottles were prepared, imagine that. The Double Cask refers to the fact that it is a mix of two casks, namely #36676 and #49499. One cask contained Single Pot Still whiskey, the other single malt whiskey. Let's see!
The nose is very fresh and lively. Lemon and white berries, but also sweet malt sugars and a lot of herbal notes. Think of a lawn in full sun. Ferns. Spring in your glass.
The body is fine. The arrival, despite the relatively high ABV, is rather soft. First comes white fruit and lemon, then grain cookies follow and then the white pepper explodes that makes your mouth completely warm. But, I have to add that I have the feeling that there is relatively young stuff in here. It certainly tastes very young. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I felt mentioning it.
Especially in the finish you notice the young age, which is stimulating and medium-long.
A nice experiment by Teeling, it seems to me, but that's all. Thanks, Benny.
