@Andrew, Hi @Andrew, I belong to a few whisky clubs here in the States and we skirt the shipping laws by labeling our samples and bottles as "perfume, olive oil, or marinade" at our local FedEx office. So far we've haven't had any problems. I have shipped whiskies to Florida and Texas (notoriously strict spirits regulations) successfully. The only downside is that the insurance value has to be set at "no value" on the FedEx form. I hope this helps.

Years ago in a pre 9/11 world there was a reasonably active trading community centered around alt.drinks.scotch-whisky, with people sending mini bottles through the mail. After 9/11 the new security rules caused that trade to pretty much dry up as the minis sent simply disappeared. I really miss it. I am wondering if anyone is still doing this sort of thing with any success, or if anyone might be interested in trying to start it up again.
