Nose: Oh, very rich. "L" something peat, though the sherry is a little light. The peat is typical tarry bog, and the sherry brings it to a mesquite dry bbq without being overly sweet or saucy. Cherry, apples, thyme, and some rosemary. Honey. Just really rich, and I am digging it a lot.
Palate: Let's see how this holds up. Takes some time to open up - it feels a little watery and limpid on the palate at first, but it turns out rather nicely. Dark peat, coal, pinch of salt, and then some tart and pleasantly bitter fruit. Berries. And it turns the peat into the bog-like smoke.
Finish: Lighter, but the fruit is still there along with the rest of it. I do like the peat, and it has some really great moments that shine past the few rough edges. At first I wasn't sure exactly where to place this, and it intrigued me. The more I was intrigued, the more I had; and the more I had, the more I liked it.
