I've been interested in whiskey since the fall of 2009 and have found that while I like bourbons (those that don't lean towards rye) and Irish whiskey my preference is scotch. I don't seem to like ryes which is unfortunate since Canada seems to be the land of the rye whiskey.

I read somewhere that one's sense of smell diminishes with age and this seems to be the case with me since I'm unable to discern much of the nose I've read in reviews. Which is sad as I'm fairly certain it keeps or restricts, at least, me from perceiving some of the taste notes as well.

Fortunately, this still seems to leave a lot of scope and I've been enjoying as many a dram as I can afford.
