I suppose the name already gives away the fact that this Cuvée Marie d'Ecosse is very popular in France. It is a 15 Year Old Aberlour that got a sherry finish.
The nose is very soft on vanilla, Granny Smith apples, sugared almonds and caramel. Chocolate cookies filled with orange marmalade. Some acacia honey after a while.
It is equally soft on the palate. Creamy almost. A perfect continuation of the nose, with the emphasis on apples, surprisingly enough. Midpalate the spices kick in, but certainly not very loud. This is all very quaffable and honeysweet. The hint of rubber is easily forgiven.
The finish is medium long on more sweetness, like coffee liqueur.
A very attractive Aberlour, that goes down easily and is a perfect match for pastry.
