Premium Spirits, the former Belgian importer under the stewardship of the always charming Claudia Hamm, selected this bourbon cask matured Benriach, which yielded 220 bottles at cask strength.
Sweet malt, coconut, apples, almonds and a hint of kiwi. That is the nose of this BenRiach in a nutshell. Give it some time to breathe and it will offer a tropical note of pineapple. Some light brown sugar. Pancake batter. Textbook BenRiach.
It is powerful, but does not need water. Good body. Oily to even creamy. Wonderfully spicy on pepper, liquorice and ginger. Loads of oak – admittedly – but beautifully balanced thanks to a lot of fruity notes, like we are used to from BenRiach.
The finish is long, no doubt about that, on fresh and bright fruit with some liquorice.
Great cask selection by Claudia and her team. Very typical and lovely bourbon cask matured BenRiach. You can still find it for around 72 EUR. Recommended!
