BenRiach is always a bit of a feast for me. It is a whisky that rarely disappoints. So this 18 Year Old was something I was looking forward to.
Very aromatic nose. I have only just poured it and already my nose is filled with loads of fruit (mostly white and yellow), but also creamy beeswax. Creamy and sweet, indeed. It has a mildly tropical side with mostly oranges and apricots now. Something of green grapes and some mocha. I cannot get it out of my mind that is also has something green. Some garden herbs and mint. Nice!
Beautiful, creamy arrival without burning. Immediately honeysweet on yellow fruit (pineapple joins the fray) and the spices pipe up. Ginger, mint and a pinch of pepper. Very nice. It becomes sweeter still while in the mouth. A big dollop of caramel kicks in. The mocha returns. This does not need water.
The finish is honeysweet and very long.
Great and fruity BenRiach with a fair pricetag of 80 EUR.
