I debated with myself (it was a sight to behold, belief me) whether or not I would write this tasting note. After all, I had no references. It was a cask sample that was given to me by a friend, whisky lover cum bottler, who had decided against bottling this. But since I took the time to taste it, might as well, as your loyal servant, provide you with my thoughts.
The nose is fruity and sweet. Very sweet. A bit chemically sweet, in fact. Hmm. Bubblegum. Some white and yellow fruit, slightly tropical. But the bubblegum notes never leave. Loads of honey and a bit of caramel. Softly spiced.
Nicely creamy on the palate, sure, but again artificially sweet. Guimauve! Krieks on white pepper. Not bad at all, but a bit strange. Strange is used as a euphemism here.
Medium long, sweet finish.
An independent bottler usually looks for something special. Buts ome things are a tad too special to be qualified as good. I think it was a wise decision not to bottle this at this point.
