This BenRiach is part of the Batch 10 single cask releases from earlier this year, distilled in 1992, bottled this summer. It got a finish from the king of sherry, meaning PX. The cask strength and the color make my mouth water with anticipation.
Oh, yeah! The nose is a feast. Very sweet on the usual sherry suspects: sultanas, espresso, dades, figs, rum raisins and more goodies of the sort, but all of the highest quality. Loads of cinnamon, hint of cloves, touch of balsamic. Sirop de Liège. Stewed apples. This is amazingly good.
Full and creamy taste with a huge fruitiness in the shape of caramelized oranges, dark chocolate, cough syrup (no joke), fresh garden herbs and plum liqueur. This is big. The PX puts its indelible stamp on it and when the result is this succulent, there are no regrets.
Long, warm, sweet, spicy, wonderful finish!
Yep, this is the better BenRiach. Very nice PX touch. Thanks, Jeroen!
