Yet another Bowmore. But then, can you ever have enough? Bow more, I say. This is a 22 Year Old, recently bottled by Malts of Scotland.
The nose transports you to the rocky coast of Islay with its typical seaweed and soft, sweet peat. It smells rather fatty. Farmer’s butter. Citrus, banana and toffee make it nicely sweet. After a while, I even get canned sardines. Feisty.
The attack is spicy and grassy. The peat speaks louder now, but it is the salt that makes my mouth water. Some drying oak that makes it nicely bitter. Wonderful and creamy caramel. Good balance.
The finish lingers on sea salt and pepper. At the end, your mouth is dry.
What a wonderful Bowmore. It reminds me of the Bowmore 21 Year Old for QV.ID that I recently tasted (see elsewhere on this site). I would not be surprised if this was a sister cask (they even have the same ABV). About 110 EUR.
