Find where to buy Braeval whisky
In 1973 Chivas Brothers build a new distillery near the village of Glenlivet, in Chapeltown. Glenlivet of course means 'the valley of the river livet', an affluent of the river spey. About 9 miles downstream, another Chivas distillery is located : The Glenlivet, founded in 1858. Both distilleries operate separately and produce their own whisky. Finaly, in 1995, Chivas decided to change the name of Braes of Glenlivet in Braeval, to avoid confussion of both names. So, the one you tasted is diffenitly not a Glenlivet, but a Braeval. In general Braeval ought to contain more honey taste, while Glenlivet is more floral. p.s.: in 2000 the French concern Pernod Ricard bought the Chivas Regal company, ans owns not alone Chivas regal, The Glenliver and Braeval, but also Aberlour, Longmorn, Strathisla, Scapa and Tormore. An answer to the Diageo dominance?
